WIARD Promotions is now advertising positions within its Marketing Division. The Market Team will consist of several sub-teams which will work on a variety of different marketing projects throughout the year. A handful of successful candidates will be appointed Marketing Coordinators who will be responsible for making the big decisions of the marketing team (in collaboration with the Managing Director). All of the projects carried out by the team will be geared towards making the members of the organisation more eligible for employment in high-end marketing jobs in the future. Whether you're planning a future in online marketing, or advertising sales, you are bound to help improve your desirability in the eyes of prospective employees by joining the Marketing Team.
Given that most of the activities of the Marketing Team will be geared towards student audiences in the East Midlands, we would welcome applicants studying at the following educational establishments:

Most of work carried out by the marketing team will be related to the online music magazine ran by WIARD Promotions. This publication is focused on both; entertainment (music event listings, music event video highlights, music reviews, film reviews), and fashion (fashion events, fashion reviews). This online magazine is also partnered by a print publication which is due to be launched at the beginning of 2009 and so the marketing team may be needed to carry out some work on behalf of this publication (subject to agreement). - Advertising sales (print media)
- Selling advertising inventory for community youth magazine covering the whole of Nottingham, this will involve making contact with local and/or national business and explaining how they would benefit from communicating their product/services to the magazines readership (potential to earn commission on sales made).
- Advertising sales (online media)
- Selling online advertising inventory, initially only for our in-house online music magazine but eventually this will include the inventory of third-party online publications. Marketing assistant will gain experience in banner ad management and training will be given where necessary.
- Securing Sponsorship
- The in-house online music magazine will feature many editorials/feature articles focused on entertainment (music reviews, event reviews, film reviews and video-game reviews), and fashion. The marketing team will need to ensure that we create, and sustain, strong relationships with sponsors and established companies in both the entertainment and fashion industries. The team will need to ensure that the following is acquired on behalf of both the press, and the video production teams for review and editorials:
- music cd's
- cinema tickets
- access to events (music & fashion)
- fashion/beauty samples
- Public Relations
- The main public activities will consist of accompanying the press and/or media production teams to events and communicating both the benefits and the value of the organisations online magazine to the public. In this capacity it will be your duty to encourage event goers to share their contact details (email address) and subscribe to the magazines newsletter. Other activities will involve managing the presence of the organisation/magazine on the various social networks (myspace, facebook, bebo etc).
- Email Marketing/Copywriting
- Team members will aid the marketing coordinator in the composition of periodic newsletters (1-3 weeks) which will inform readers of upcoming events as well as highlight key press features and video presentations (interviews, film/music reviews etc). This element of the role will need a creative flair for writing as well as a keen eye for detail and an ability to work to a deadline.
- Customer/Market Research
- Will involve planning and implementing a strategy to build a detailed customer profile/profiles of the readers of both our in-house online magazine, and our partner print publications. The information gathered during this process will be vitally important for the sale of advertising inventory as the more accurate this information is, the higher the value of the ad space as the subsequent advertising can be more highly targeted. The types of research will include: questionnaire, surveys, focus groups and more (possibly data mining).
Person Specification:
A bright and bubbly individual who is fiercely passionate about marketing and strongly believes in the importance of marketing and the role ot plays in the success of any organisation. A creative approach to to marketing is sought in the successful candidate as well as the ability to work in teams. Strong team skills are a must as team working is an essential part of the organisations make-up, and the teams that you will be working in will often have to collaborate with other teams.
Strong communication skills are a must and, whilst not a necessity, an interest in online marketing would be advantageous as the tasks for this role will involve a mix of online and offline activities.

Skills Required:
Essential:
- A knowledge and understanding of the principles of marketing
- Excellent communication skills. This includes; written, verbal and face-to-face communication skills.

- Ability to sell; a product, service or idea to either members of the public or members of your team.
- Basic ICT skills.
Desired
- Excellent copywriting skils required for writing press releases, newsletters and SEO.
- Ability, and willingness, to lead a team and make important decisions when necessary.
- Good analytical skills; including the ability to both compile and interpret statistical reports.
- A basic understanding of HTML (training will be given).
